What it’s really like moving to Greenville, NC
-
It's the truth. You’ll find housing in Greenville, NC is a whole lot lower than the national average. If you’re planning on relacting from a larger metro area, like Charlotte, or out of state like Atlanta, you’ll notice the difference. Not only will you buy more house for less, but your overall cost of living will go down too.

I get this question a lot. The truth is that it depends on when you’re planning to move and how well you feel you know the area. If you’ve done a lot of exploring and it’s the kind of financial decision that aligns with your goals, go for it. If the area is still fairly new to you, we have two options: partnering together to get some remote home and neighborhood relocation work done; or starting with a short-term rental that gives you more time to explore the area in person.

I always talk about Greenville as a small town with a big city feel. Nothing is all that far away, no matter the side of town you’re on. If you’re often on-call and want to be as close to the hospital as possible in a single family neighborhood, look at Barrington Fields, Mill Creek, or Colony Woods. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to neighborhoods and you don’t need to be that close to the hospital to be close enough.

Think of Greenville as centerpoint; Winterville to the southwest, Farmville to the west, and Washington and the beach to the east. If you want to be in the center of the fun, stick to Greenville-proper, but if you’re craving a little more quiet, explore Winterville and the other surrounding areas; only 15 minutes away, but a slightly slower pace.

While interest rates are pretty high compared to the last 6.5 years, buyers have a clear advantage when it comes to the power to negotiate and bidding wars are almost nonexistent.

If you’re coming from a bigger metro area, almost everything is going to cost you signficantly less than it currently does.
Outside of home-buying costs, you’ll have to get license plates changed over, possibly experience a health insurance gap, and pray all the other intial startup costs that come with a big move. Don’t worry; I’ll have your back every step of the way.

Yes! This is my favorite thing I get to do for my relocating clients. I’ll video and voice-call, talk through your priorities and neighborhood likes and dislikes, measure commute times, and make sure that the time we spend together when you finally do arrive is worth the time taken.

I care a lot too; in fact I offer design services to many of my clients. I understand the vision for all that home is to you, not just a physical place, but a distinct feeling.
